The conservation work of the 14th-century monument of defensive architecture of the Kreva Castle, which began in 2017, brought to the fore the problem of the compositional structure of the castle during the Middle Ages. To search for unknown structures and foundations, architectural and archaeological research is being carried out, and the ground penetrating radar method was also used. The use of geolocation on the territory of such medieval monuments as stone castles is complicated by the presence of a strong background due to construction rubble and destroyed structures. But geolocation has shown its effectiveness as an auxiliary tool in archaeological research of castles. Further development and improvement of the geolocation methods for studying medieval stone construction monuments is required, taking into account the architectural and archaeological specifics of the objects and the presence of a significant background.
